MANUAL THERAPY:

You may be wondering “what is manual therapy?”
Manual therapy is a form of treatment that involves a hands-on approach with a therapeutic goal.

It is used in Physical Therapy to reduce restrictions in soft tissue, improve mobility of joints, promote relaxation, relieve pain, strengthen muscles, and improve movement patterns.

Christine employs a wide variety of manual therapy techniques into her treatment. She has taken many courses with the Maitland-Austrailian-Physiotherapy-Seminars (MAPS) approach which is a manual therapy based continuing education program.

Manual therapy includes the following, but is not limited to:

  • joint mobilizations

  • soft tissue mobilization

  • myofascial release

  • passive stretching

  • manually resisted strengthening

  • proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation

  • contract relax & muscle energy techniques

  • massage
